Job Description
The Team Lead, Investigations reports directly to the Unit Head, Investigations within the Internal Audit Group. The role is responsible for coordinating and executing detailed investigations into reported incidents across the Bank, ensuring timely, accurate, and objective resolution in line with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
The position also involves conducting root-cause analyses, identifying control gaps, and recommending corrective and preventive actions to strengthen the Bank’s control environment, improve operational integrity, and minimize financial and reputational risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate fraud cases, customer complaints, and other assigned investigation matters.
- Ensure timely completion of investigation activities based on approved SLAs.
- Ensure investigation recommendations address identified root causes.
- Drive implementation of approved investigation recommendations.
- Ensure full implementation of recommendations within stipulated timelines.
- Extract and circulate learning points from investigations bank-wide.
- Reduce the number and value of successful fraud incidents within the Bank.
- Drive account reconciliation and analysis for regulatory cases (e.g., CBN).
- Ensure resolution of regulatory investigation matters within advised timelines.
- Ensure quality review and resolution of customers’ complaints.
- Support the Legal Team by serving as the Bank’s witness in court cases.
- Participate in conflict resolution sessions at CIBN and engage law enforcement agencies.
- Respond to enquiries from other banks and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure submission of regulatory returns within approved SLAs.
- Encourage team bonding and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
- Develop high-performing team members aligned with Access Bank service standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Group Head, Internal Audit.
Qualifications and Experience
- First Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CISA, or CFA.
- Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in Internal Audit or related roles.
- Experience must be within the Financial Services Industry.
- A relevant Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
