Job Description

Access Bank is seeking experienced and customer-focused professionals to join its Commercial Banking Division. The Relationship Manager will be responsible for developing and managing strong relationships with corporate clients while delivering tailored financial solutions that meet customer needs and support the bank’s profitability.

This role requires a proactive leader with strong financial knowledge, excellent relationship management skills, and the ability to balance customer satisfaction with risk management.

Functions & Responsibilities

  • Develop work schedules for identifying and marketing prospective customers.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Plan, execute, and report on marketing calls for the unit.
  • Structure credit facilities to meet customer needs and prepare credit proposals.
  • Monitor customer compliance with credit agreements.
  • Handle loan recovery and remediation activities.
  • Present and defend credit proposals before the Credit Committee.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship for Account Officers.
  • Negotiate foreign exchange and credit rates within approved limits.
  • Monitor unit performance against monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
  • Prepare the unit’s annual budget and monthly profitability reports.
  • Appraise supervised Account Officers.
  • Achieve assigned financial objectives and performance ratios.
  • Prepare periodic reports for the Regional Head.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Zonal Head.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years banking experience, with at least 2–3 years in a team leadership role.
  • A good first degree in any discipline.
  • Relevant Master’s degree and/or professional certification is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and professional conduct.
  • Client-focused and results-driven mindset.
  • Knowledge of treasury services products is an added advantage.
  • Solid credit skills including financial analysis, lending, and loan structuring.
  • Understanding of credit approval processes and risk management.
  • Strong planning, negotiation, and organizational skills.
