- Adapt your CV/Resume so that it is appropriate for the job you are applying for.
- Keep your CV short - it should not more than 2 pages if possible.
- Present yourself positively & accurately.
- Make your CV attractive and easy to read: Use capitals, bold type, spacing and underline where necessary.
- Make use of good font style; such as Times New Roman, Arial or Bookman old style and use at least 12 - 14 font size.
CV BODY CONTENTS:
PERSONAL INFORMATION:
In this stage you are to mentioned details about you e.g. Full name, Your age, Gender, Nationality, Race, Religion & Marital status. Don't send/attached a photo except you are asked to.
PROFILE AND OBJECTIVE:
Some Graduates/Job seekers do not include this, but they do give an employer and idea of who you are. e.g. "I'm a dynamic young man/woman who is willing to work effectively/independently or as a part of a team with existing staff and available facilities at all time".
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:
At this stage you are to put the recent first i.e. from highest qualifications to the lowest with dates e.g. 2016 - 2020: BA in Media Studies at Bristol University.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Experienced candidates are to put this after Education qualifications. And write more about your most recent post e.g. "2014 - 2020: Achiever Computer Institute". Post Held: Computer Facilitator/Accounting Officer.
SKILLS:
Your practical abilities, include exams passed, awards are to be written here if you have the experience e.g. "Good computer skills, Football skills etc".
Keep this short, include a sport, creative and a community activity if you can. Try to avoid vague subjects/words, such as Reading / Travel.
RESUME BODY CONTENTS:
- The contents in Resume are similar to CVs, but notice for new graduates, your Resume should be only one page.
- Describe your work experience in terms of self motivation, team work, organizing, problem-solving, and enthusiasm.
- Provide your college or temporary address if you have one.
OBJECTIVE: State a realistic short term goal or a job for which you are currently qualified.
- Use bold type to highlight important key information about yourself.
