Role Purpose
The Fitter is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the mechanical systems that drive our milling operations. The primary objective is to enhance equipment performance and reduce production downtime through swift, accurate diagnostics and high-quality mechanical repairs. You will ensure that all machinery deployed for milling and packaging meets statutory codes and FMN's rigorous internal specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair industrial equipment, including gears, shafts, bearings, and conveyors used in milling and packaging.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret mechanical drawings, engineering diagrams, and parts catalogues to perform precise maintenance and service.
- Planned Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance tasks diligently to prevent unexpected mechanical failures.
- Fault Troubleshooting: Respond promptly to reported mechanical faults to identify solutions and minimize production halts.
- Inspection & Reporting: Carry out routine machine inspections and update all necessary technical reports and job cards.
- Compliance: Strictly observe all occupational Health and Safety (HSE) procedures and meet statutory mechanical codes in every task.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of 5 O’Level credits, including Mathematics and English Language.
- Technical Certification: NABTEB or City & Guilds (C&G) Technical certificate in a Mechanical or related discipline.
- Experience: At least 2 years of cognate experience specifically within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, conveyors, and mechanical assembly.
- Diagnostic Ability: Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and fix mechanical faults quickly and effectively.
