Job Summary
The Hair Stylist (Braider) will be responsible for creating neat, stylish, and trendy braids while giving clients a comfortable and satisfying salon experience. This role is ideal for someone who is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about hair care and beauty trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and style different braiding patterns such as box braids, cornrows, knotless braids, twists, feed-in braids, and more.
- Consult with clients to understand their preferred styles and recommend suitable options.
- Prepare hair properly before braiding, ensuring good scalp care.
- Apply hair extensions, beads, and accessories based on client requests.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene of tools, equipment, and workstations.
- Educate clients on hair maintenance and aftercare.
- Stay updated with current hair trends and braiding techniques.
- Manage walk-in clients and scheduled appointments efficiently.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of different braiding styles and techniques.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Ability to work fast without compromising quality.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Creative eye for styles and finishing.
- Basic knowledge of hair care products and scalp health.
Education and Certification
- Minimum of SSCE / WAEC or equivalent.
- Certification or training in hair styling or cosmetology is an added advantage.
- Health and hygiene training is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of 1–2 years hands-on experience in hair braiding and styling.
- Portfolio of previous braiding work is highly desirable.
