Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Backend Lead, you will be a core architect of our systems. This isn't a "follow-instructions-only" role; we need someone who can lead the design of scalable backend systems capable of handling massive user loads. You’ll be working with a modern stack including Node.js, TypeScript, Docker, and AWS, while using ethers.js for blockchain communication. Your focus will be on robustness, security, and performance optimization. As a senior member of the team, you will also play a key role in mentoring junior developers and fostering a culture of high-quality, production-grade engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Architecting: Design and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs to support our growing DeFi ecosystem.
Code Excellence: Set the standard for the team through rigorous code reviews and implementing best practices for maintainability.
System Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize algorithms to ensure high availability and speed.
Reliability & Testing: Build comprehensive test suites (unit, integration, and E2E) and implement advanced monitoring and debugging tools.
Technical Mentorship: Guide junior engineers, share knowledge, and help elevate the overall technical capacity of the team.
Problem Solving: Tackle complex cross-chain and multi-chain technical hurdles with effective, production-ready solutions.

Requirements / Qualifications

Location: Must be based in the EMEA region (Nigeria is perfectly fine).
Technical Stack: Extensive professional experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
Blockchain Expertise: Proven experience working with the Stellar network in a production environment is a strict requirement.
Seniority: Significant experience in a senior or lead-level backend engineering role.
Infrastructure: Deep understanding of MongoDB (document databases), Redis (caching), and general system architecture.
EVM Knowledge: Technical understanding of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) or other ecosystems is a major plus.
Communication: Exceptional English skills and the ability to work independently in a remote-first setup.
Education: A degree in Computer Science is preferred, but your "workings" (experience) matter most.
