Job Summary
The Finance Manager (Nigeria) will lead and manage all financial operations within the Nigerian business. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, full regulatory compliance, and providing strategic financial insights that support sustainable growth and profitability of the Nigerian subsidiary.
You will work closely with country leadership, operations teams, and the Group finance function to drive financial discipline, improve efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making in a high-growth environment.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close for the Nigeria entity.
- Ensure full compliance with IFRS standards and FIRS/state-level reporting requirements.
- Manage the general ledger, reconciliations, and supporting financial documentation.
- Prepare management accounts, variance analyses, and reports for Group review.
Financial Planning, Analysis & Budgeting
- Lead annual budgeting and periodic re-forecast cycles for the Nigerian business.
- Develop financial models, margin analysis, and scenario planning tools.
- Track performance KPIs and investigate key variances against budget and forecast.
- Provide insights and recommendations on cost efficiency and profitability drivers.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Optimize cash flow, liquidity, and working capital management.
- Oversee banking relationships, payments, and treasury operations.
- Monitor trade receivables, credit exposure, and collection efficiency.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure timely filing of VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT, and other Nigeria-specific taxes.
- Serve as the primary contact for FIRS audits and regulatory compliance matters.
- Implement and strengthen internal control frameworks to minimize financial risk.
Business Support & Strategy
- Partner with operations teams to improve cost discipline and operational efficiency.
- Conduct financial feasibility studies and investment appraisals.
- Provide actionable financial insights to country leadership and key stakeholders.
Team Leadership
- Supervise accountants and finance officers within the Nigerian operation.
- Build team capability through coaching, mentoring, and continuous training.
- Strengthen finance SOPs, policies, and end-to-end finance processes.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Timeliness and accuracy of monthly financial close.
- SG&A efficiency and measurable cost reductions.
- Accuracy of forecasts versus actual performance.
- Audit outcomes and overall compliance score.
- Quality and usefulness of financial analysis and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification (mandatory).
- 5–8 years of progressive finance experience within Nigeria.
- Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
- Experience with Odoo ERP is an added advantage.
