About the Position

The Materials and Logistics Officer plays a central role in supporting operational activities by ensuring that all materials, spare parts, and consumables are properly received, inspected, documented, stored, and issued. The role requires close collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager, warehouse teams, crane operators, and rig personnel.

This position is well-suited for professionals with strong logistics coordination experience, particularly within drilling or technical operations. Attention to detail, compliance with procedures, and a strong safety mindset are essential, as the officer is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring materials are available when required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify goods on arrival to ensure conformity with purchase orders and delivery documents.
  • Organize receipt of materials and arrange for receiving inspections in line with supply chain procedures.
  • Maintain all logistics paperwork in an orderly, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Report any material non-conformance to the Supply Chain Manager promptly.
  • Receive and issue spare parts and consumables using the company inventory system.
  • Ensure all materials are correctly stored, labeled, and preserved.
  • Coordinate shipment of materials and equipment from base to rig locations.
  • Liaise with crane operators to prepare for back-loading of rig equipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date material records and inventory files.
  • Conduct continuous and periodic physical stock counts.
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies and submit periodic reports.
  • Maintain a clean, secure, and well-organized warehouse environment.
  • Participate in safety meetings and drills.
  • Ensure all instructions, whether written or verbal, are clearly understood and followed.
  • Carry out assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and professionally.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized technical or trade institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Materials or Logistics Coordinator with a reputable drilling contractor.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics (CITL).
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS, ISM, APICS, or related qualifications are an advantage.
  • Experience working in technical or oil and gas operational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control systems and warehouse best practices.
  • Good communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to work under pressure.
