About the Position
The Finance Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the organization’s financial health and operational effectiveness. Working closely with the Finance Lead, the role focuses on budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and analytical support for strategic decision-making.
This position requires a strong technical finance background, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Finance Analyst will also provide financial guidance to programme teams, ensuring that projects are implemented in line with approved budgets, donor requirements, and internal policies.
The hybrid nature of the role allows for flexibility, combining remote work with in-office collaboration, making it suitable for professionals who value both autonomy and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare, analyse, and present accurate and timely financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
- Maintain proper accounting records, ledgers, and reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Monitor financial transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and statutory regulations.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Collaborate with the Finance Lead on annual and project-based budgeting exercises.
- Track budget utilization and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations.
- Contribute to financial modelling and projections to support strategic planning.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and statutory obligations, including timely remittance.
- Support internal and external audit processes and implement audit recommendations.
- Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process invoices, payment requests, and requisitions accurately and promptly.
- Monitor staff advances and ensure timely retirements and reconciliations.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
Operational & Programme Support
- Provide financial guidance to programme teams on budgeting and compliance.
- Support financial reviews for proposals and resource mobilization initiatives.
- Assist in strengthening financial systems and reporting tools.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years and maximum of 8 years progressive experience in finance or accounting.
- Previous experience in an NGO, civic-tech, or social impact organization is preferred.
- ACA certification is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Advanced skills in Excel and familiarity with Google Workspace.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle sensitive information.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
