Job Summary

The Store Specialist, Inventory Control will be responsible for planning, controlling, and optimizing inventory levels across the store network. The role focuses on inventory planning, cycle counting, reconciliation, reporting, and enforcement of inventory control policies to minimize losses, reduce carrying costs, and ensure material availability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate perpetual inventory records in ERP/WMS systems and ensure timely posting of receipts, issues, transfers, and adjustments.
  • Design and implement cycle count programmes and coordinate full stocktakes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during inventory audits.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical stock and system balances, proposing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Classify inventory using ABC and criticality analysis and recommend safety stock levels, reorder points, and EOQs in collaboration with Procurement and Planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce write-offs, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory.
  • Prepare and present monthly inventory reports, ageing analysis, slow-moving stock lists, and shrinkage reports.
  • Manage store ledger reconciliations and collaborate with Finance during month-end and year-end closings.
  • Implement and enforce inventory control policies, documentation standards, and approval hierarchies.
  • Train store personnel on inventory discipline, record maintenance, and cycle count procedures.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in store operations or inventory control.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong investigative ability for variance analysis.
  • Sound knowledge of inventory costing and basic accounting treatment.
  • Process-driven mindset with ability to implement controls and standard operating procedures.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to influence internal stakeholders.
