About the Storekeeper Role
The Storekeeper plays a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations by managing the receipt, storage, and issuance of goods and materials. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and responsibility, as inventory control directly impacts operational efficiency and cost management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock records, inspecting incoming goods, and ensuring that all items are properly stored and accounted for. The Storekeeper will also work closely with management and other departments to ensure that inventory levels meet operational needs without shortages or excess.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming goods to ensure they meet required quality and quantity standards.
- Properly store items in designated storage areas following company guidelines and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock levels and inventory records.
- Issue materials and supplies according to authorized requests and approved procedures.
- Monitor stock usage and report low stock levels to management in a timely manner.
- Identify and report discrepancies, damages, shortages, or expired items to management.
- Conduct routine stock counts and assist with periodic inventory audits.
- Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and safety within the store area at all times.
- Prepare inventory reports and documentation as required by management.
- Support effective coordination between the store and other operational units.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of SSCE or equivalent qualification.
- Additional certification or training in storekeeping, inventory management, or logistics is an advantage.
- Previous experience as a storekeeper, warehouse assistant, or inventory clerk is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of stock control procedures and record keeping.
- Ability to use inventory tools or basic computer applications is an added advantage.
