About the Position
The Assistant General Manager, HEMM – Mines is responsible for overseeing all Heavy Earth Moving Machinery operations within the mines. The role ensures that HEMM activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while maximizing equipment availability and productivity through effective leadership and maintenance planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily HEMM operations to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for HEMM operations.
- Monitor equipment utilization, repair, and maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure compliance with maintenance procedures.
- Train, supervise, and support HEMM operators to enhance performance and safety.
- Develop and manage a preventive maintenance program for all HEMM equipment.
- Prepare and manage budgets for HEMM operations in line with company policies.
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations, reduce downtime, and control costs.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, operational, and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 21 years relevant work experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of HEMM operations and maintenance.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale HEMM operations.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders.
