Job Description
As an HEMM Operator, you will be actively involved in daily quarry and production activities by handling heavy-duty machinery. This role requires a high level of concentration, safety awareness, and technical know how. You will be expected to inspect equipment regularly, report faults early, and follow all company safety guidelines while carrying out assigned duties.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate heavy earth-moving machinery according to approved operational procedures.
- Carry out pre-operation and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is in good condition.
- Identify and report equipment faults promptly to the maintenance team.
- Work closely with engineers and technicians to support timely repairs.
- Strictly comply with all safety rules and company policies to prevent accidents.
- Maintain accurate records of machine usage and performance.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from safety hazards.
- Ensure full compliance with Dangote Cement safety standards at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or sectional heads.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Minimum of SSCE qualification.
- Relevant technical certification or diploma will be an added advantage.
- At least five (5) years of experience operating heavy earth-moving machinery.
- Must possess a valid Class H Driver’s Licence.
Skills and Competencies
- Good understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems used in heavy machinery.
- Ability to use basic diagnostic tools for equipment troubleshooting.
- Experience with HEMM brands such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, or Volvo is an added advantage.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-detection skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Physically fit and able to work in hot, dusty, and noisy environments.
- High level of discipline, safety awareness, and attention to detail.
